Podcast #21: Eyeballs with Dr. Bob

Eyeballs!  Eye care is a critical topic for families, yet perhaps one that we know less about than other basic health protocols.  Dr. Robert Wong joins us in studio to talk eyeball essentials, from vision testing to LASIK to sports injuries, it’s all in here and then some.

Dr. Bob, a young dad with two kids himself, is an accomplished individual.  He has authored over 20 published works in peerreviewed journals and book chapters and currently serves as an editor for the journals Retina and Retinal Cases & Brief Reports. He is a clinical assistant professor at the Texas A&M Health Science Center Department of Surgery and in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.  He also serves as a mentor for the Health Career Mentorship Program at the University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Bob isn’t just an awesome doctor of eyeballs, he’s also a good citizen, organizing free eye screenings for Austin musicians in conjunction with the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM) and Prevent Blindness Texas.  In addition to providing vitreoretinal care to the Central Texas community, Dr. Bob volunteered his expertise and skills on several medical missions throughout South America and Ghana from 2000 to 2006.

Listen in and learn everything you need to know about your eyeballs, and the eyeballs of the ones you love.  We promise that the topic has never been so much fun, and Dr. Bob’s voice is soft and soothing to boot.  Bonus features include how to utilize the OJ Simpson Bronco chase to help your child fall asleep.  Seriously.
